Root Roids Granules – Mycorrhizal Inoculant
Root Roids Granules is Australia’s favorite mycorrhizal inoculant, crafted with 100% organic and living ingredients. Designed as a professional-grade probiotic for your garden, these granules introduce symbiotic fungi that significantly boost disease resistance, root architecture, and overall plant vigor. Often called Australia’s answer to Mykos, this granulated formula provides a long-term biological “home” in your root zone, allowing plants to access water and nutrients that would otherwise remain out of reach.
Unlike standard powdered inoculants, Root Roids Granules are completely dust-free and incredibly easy to apply. The specialized granule carrier not only houses the beneficial fungi but also provides a habitat for other beneficial bacteria and acts as a reservoir for excess nutrients. Whether you are amending new soil, transplanting advanced stock, or revitalizing an existing garden bed, these granules offer a simple “set and forget” solution for biological plant health.
Features and Benefits
- Dust-Free Application: Easy to disperse and broadcast without the mess or respiratory irritation associated with fine powders.
- Symbiotic Nutrient Transfer: Contains Mycorrhizae (Rhizophagus irregularis) that live on the roots, acting as an extended root system to pump water and minerals directly into the plant.
- Disease Suppression: Outcompetes and eliminates detrimental soil organisms by establishing a dominant, beneficial fungal colony.
- Dual-Action Carrier: The granule carrier holds onto excess nutrients and provides a stable environment for microbial life to flourish over the long term.
- Versatile Use: Can be scratched into existing soil, mixed into new potting media, or broadcast alongside slow-release fertilizers.
- Zero Burn Risk: Safe for use on delicate seedlings and during propagation without the risk of nutrient burn.
Specifications
- Active Ingredient: Rhizophagus irregularis @ 260 propagules per gram.
- Carrier: Specialized natural granule carrier.
- Organic Status: 100% Organic and Living ingredients.
- Application Rate: Approx. 50g per 50L of media or 50g per m2.
How To Use
- Transplanting: Spread 1 to 2 scoops evenly under and around the root ball during planting. For larger transplants, 3 to 4 scoops can be used safely.
- Existing Soils: Apply 1 to 2 scoops per plant. Scratch the granules into the soil surface and cover with mulch or soil—do not leave exposed to direct sunlight. Can be broadcast at 50g per m2.
- New Soils & Potting Media: Thoroughly mix 50g of Root Roids Granules with 50L of potting media before planting.
- Maintenance: Reapply every month during the active growing season, and bimonthly during periods of inactive growth to maintain fungal dominance.
Applications
- Establishment of New Gardens: Ensuring native and ornamental plants have the biological support needed to survive the first 12 months.
- Potted Plants & Containers: Revitalizing “tired” potting mix by reintroducing essential soil biology.
- Vegetable Patches & Orchards: Increasing nutrient density and flavor in home-grown produce through better mineral uptake.
- Large-Scale Revegetation: A cost-effective way to improve survival rates in poor or degraded soils.
FAQs
Why shouldn’t I leave the granules exposed to the sun?
Mycorrhizae are living organisms that are sensitive to UV light. Scratching them into the soil or covering them with mulch ensures the fungi remain viable and can quickly colonize the roots.
Can I use this alongside chemical fertilizers?
While Root Roids Granules are 100% organic, they can be used with many fertilizers. However, extremely high-phosphorus chemical fertilizers can sometimes inhibit mycorrhizal colonization. For best results, use with organic or slow-release fertilizers.
How is this different from the original Root Roids powder?
The powder is designed for fast-acting liquid drenches and hydroponic systems, whereas the Granules are designed for soil-based applications where long-term colonization and ease of broadcasting are required.
Can I use too much?
No. Mycorrhizae are symbiotic, not salt-based. Using more than the recommended dose simply increases the speed of colonization and will not harm the plant.
