FAQs

What is Bokashi One Compost Additive Mix?

Bokashi One Compost Additive Mix is a combination of wheat bran and rice husks infused with microorganisms that help ferment and accelerate the breakdown of organic matter. This mix can be used with your compost or soil to provide excellent growing conditions with rich microbial diversity and nutrient density.

How does Bokashi One Mix work?

Bokashi One Mix serves as a carrier and food source for microorganisms. When added to waste, the microorganisms in the mix become active and accelerate the breakdown of organic matter through fermentation. This creates a nutrient-rich environment for your plants to grow in.

What does the term "Bokashi" mean?

Bokashi is a Japanese word that means "fermented organic matter." It is a method of quickly breaking down kitchen scraps by layering them with a mix of microorganisms, such as Bokashi One Compost Additive Mix.

How do you use Bokashi One Mix with composting?

To use Bokashi One Mix for composting, layer kitchen scraps in a compost bucket or container (with an airtight lid and a tap at the bottom to drain liquid). Add Bokashi One Mix to the scraps, and allow the mixture to ferment for 10 days. The fermented material can then be added to your garden or a traditional compost bin to finish decomposition.

What is the "Bokashi Tea" and how is it used?

Bokashi Tea is the nutrient-rich liquid produced during the fermentation process when using Bokashi One Mix. It can be drained from the compost bucket and used as a fertiliser for houseplants or your garden.

Does Bokashi One Mix have an expiration date?

Bokashi One Mix is dried thoroughly during its production, which allows it to be stored for years without losing its effectiveness. The microorganisms in the mix are dormant when dry and will reactivate once added to your waste.

Can Bokashi One Mix be used for all types of kitchen scraps?

Yes, Bokashi One Mix can be used with all types of kitchen scraps, including vegetables, fruits, meat, and dairy.

Is Bokashi One Mix an aerobic or anaerobic composting process?

Bokashi One Mix uses an anaerobic composting process, which means it requires isolation from oxygen as much as possible to effectively ferment the materials. This differs from traditional aerobic composting methods that rely on oxygen for decomposition.
