Green Water Algae

Green water algae is a diversified group of algae containing more than 7000 different algal species. The presence of these algae in small amounts indicates a healthy pond ecosystem because they are the primary producers of this ecosystem. However, in excessive amounts, green water algae can be harmful to a pond ecosystem. A green water alagal bloom causes eutrophication, which is a process responsible for degrading water quality by increasing oxygen demand.

If your pond or water feature has excessive green water algae, you can try some of our products to prevent or control the algal growth. These products are very effective in clearing green pond water and are perfectly safe for the fish and other aquatic life. Increasing oxygen levels via proper aeration is also required when treating a pond for green water algae, please see the pond aeration category for air pumps to help speed up the elimination process.
